For Robert “Bob” Griggs, those words are more than a statement. They encompass a way of life and a way of conducting business that has enabled him to create one of the premier manufactured housing retailers in the Northeast.
From humble beginnings to a successful business that spans nearly 50 years and three generations, Concord Home Sales today provides high-quality manufactured and modular homes to couples just starting out and those looking to downsize – and everyone in between. From top-of-the industry names like Champion Home Builders and Clayton Manufacturing, Concord Home Sales is working hard to ensure customers are all smiles when they step foot into their new home.
In 1972, Bob Griggs and his brothers purchased land in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, and developed their first Mobile Home Community – Griggs Mobile Home Park. The community still carries the family name today. When the Griggs Brothers completed developing their land, residents started to purchase mobile homes from retailers south of Concord. As a young entrepreneur, Bob quickly realized he was missing out on the opportunity to sell quality homes at affordable prices to his future community residents. This was the turning point that started his over 40-year journey partnering with some of the top builders in the manufactured housing industry.
In 1978, after seeing success with his first project, Bob purchased 40 acres in Epsom, New Hampshire, and began developing his next mobile home community – Sheltering Pines. A beautiful 50-unit community located off Route 28 South, Sheltering Pines represented the first time Bob’s three children became involved in the business. Robert Jr., Stacie and Rick were not even old enough to drive a car, but could often be found on the construction site after school. Later, it was not unusual to find one of them moving large piles of dirt with equipment that they were barely tall enough to climb into, never mind operate.
Nearly 50 years later, the children are still a part of the family-owned business, which continues to thrive as not only a manufactured housing retailer, but also as the proprietor of 13 mobile home communities in New Hampshire and Maine. A lifetime filled with hard work, compassion and making the dream of home ownership a reality for many deserving families keeps Bob and his family humble, and keeps customers returning to Concord Home Sales time and time again.
The employees at the worksite are just as friendly as the people selling the homes. Everyone is willing to help out, whatever is needed.
